Hopper windows are similar to casement windows in that they both open from one end. Instead of hinging from the left or right side, like the casement window, the hopper opens into the home from the top. It is hinged on the bottom and can open completely. Because hopper windows usually sit at, or close to ground level, security is very important . If a hopper window is large enough or is improperly fitted/fastened it may not provide protection against intruders.
